2ND HALF

This live blog brought to you by an ad presuming '...only in a woman

So, I missed the first 10 minutes of the half because I was in the shower. Don't worry we didn't miss much. More shots on goal by Brazil.

55th minute RED CARD!!!!!! Kljestian! Rash challenge by Sacha. A late red but a typical silly challenge for the U.S. Any chance of the U.S. getting back into this one are all but over. We are still staring elimination in the face.

59th Minute Dempsey catches KAKA in the box but no call.

Feilhaber in.

60th Minute Counter by U.S. turned over.

62nd Minute GOAL!!!! 3-0 Brazil must love beating on the U.S. like a redheaded step child. A give and go leaves the ball at difficult angle for Maicon aided by a deflection as he kicks it. The ball floats over Howard's head. Nice finish.

Right now I am hoping for a game against Iran. That sounds fun.

65th minute KAKA looks bored.

Is the U.S. going to be able to play pretty and, more importantly, efficient TEAM soccer at the top level anytime in the next 5 years?

68th minute The U.S. has been playing better offensively this half partially due to Brazil laying off the ball. I'm hoping the U.S. can put a couple runs together and gain some confidence. It would be thought well of to carry a little momentum into the next game against Egypt, who played well against Brazil.

KAKA subbed out. Brazil subs in a solid, entertaining youth. He was bored anyway. Probably wanted to think about what he wanted to do in South Africa tonight. Kaka doesn't strike me as a partier. Maybe he'll open up a good book.

70th minute U.S. misses a good chance off a Donovan set piece. No one can get a head on the slightly over kicked to the back post.

I am looking forward to Brazil playing Italy. Should be a fun match to watch.

75th minute More of the same. Far out shot and out possessed the U.S. is trying to put anything together. But they continue to try the long balls. The crowd appreciates the dancing on the ball by Dempsey. Then Dempsey proceeds to lose the ball and falls looking for a foul that wasn't there.

Well, you know it's a bad sign when the U.S. announcers start talking about ALL the other teams in the cup. That's my sign to drive to work. 83rd minute.

  1. Wow. As I got up the U.S. had a great chance that cross-barred off the bottom side. *Applaud*
